Alltruck Choose Stertil For New Grangemouth Workshop

24/11/21 | 2021

The Alltruck Group relies upon a mix of Stertil Koni 4-post and 2-post heavy duty vehicle lifts to simplify a wide range of operations within its new workshop in Grangemouth.

“We wanted market-leading products supported by an efficient after sales service to help keep downtime to a minimum,” says Davie Russell, General Manager of the Alltruck Group. “From previous experience of using Stertil Koni heavy duty vehicle lifts, we knew that we could rely on top quality performance and reliability in our extremely busy workshop environment.”

THE COMPANY

Established in 2012, the Alltruck Group is Scotland’s complete fleet partner providing quality commercial vehicles to businesses across the country. Comprising a number of independent companies, the Group prides itself in providing unrivalled customer care to the commercial vehicle industry. This includes a comprehensive range of one-stop solutions, including vehicle and crane maintenance, truck rental and leasing, crane sales and commercial vehicle bodybuilding services, throughout  Central Scotland from four dedicated sites.

THE EQUIPMENT

The decision to invest in the new Stertil Koni vehicle lifts followed the use of a 17.5 tonne capacity 4-post lift, type ST4175, which was chosen in preference to a conventional inspection pit. Such was the success of this first lift that the Group didn’t hesitate to purchase another 4-post lift, type ST4250, and a 2-post version for installation within the Group’s new, fully-equipped Grangemouth workshop.

Both 4-post vehicle lifts are from the Stertil Koni Ultra range. The ST4175 and the ST4250 lifts offer respective lifting capacities of 17.5 tonnes and 25 tonnes. However, when used as a set of two in tandem, these models can achieve maximum lifting capacities of 35 and 50 tonnes.

ST4175 4-Post Lift

Designed free of cross beams and with low drive-on heights, the ST4175 and ST4250 heavy duty lifts ensure unrestricted access both to vehicles and the lift itself. Operators can also select the ideal width between the lifts’ platforms depending on the type of vehicles to be serviced. Both models offer a lifting height of 1900mm and the lifts are entirely electronically controlled which is made even easier and safer for workshop technicians by the well-positioned control panel, from where the lifting height can also be programmed. Fast lifting speeds are an important feature of these models. The ST4250 achieves the maximum lifting height in just 77 seconds whilst the ST4175 reaches the maximum lifting height in an impressive 54 seconds, making it one of the fastest heavy duty vehicle lifts in the world.

The most recent addition to the installation of Stertil Koni vehicle lifts within the Grangemouth workshop is a FreedomLift 2-post lift, type SK2055. This model offers a safe lifting capacity of 5.5 tonnes and, due to its compact design, ensures maximum space utilisation within the busiest of workshops. Perfect for lifting a wide variety of vehicles from commercial vans to small, heavy duty trucks, the lift’s telescopic support arms enable fast and simple adjustment. In fact, Alltruck Group specified the Stertil Koni SK2055 complete with special extended flexible arms that increase further the flexibility and versatility of the lift. This lift provides a maximum lifting height of 2045mm which is reached in just 39 seconds thereby enhancing workshop throughput.

Freedomlift

Total safety lies at the heart of the Stertil Koni SK2055 2-post lift which incorporates a number of features including an independent mechanical locking system that engages at 210mm above floor level. Also, an advanced synchronisation feature automatically commences at a height difference of 15mm. Furthermore, this model offers a gravity-operated locking pawl and an automatic overload system. Powered by a reliable electro-hydraulic system, all operations are controlled by a conveniently-positioned push button console.

The new Grangemouth facility provides a host of workshop operations including servicing, repairs and maintenance on vehicles ranging from 3.5 tonne vans up to 44 tonne tractor units. In a typical day, 20 to 30 vehicles pass through the workshop which operates six days a week, 12 hours a day.
