Stertil Koni lifting Equipment enables multi vehicle servicing for Reilly Concrete pumping

30/06/14 | 2014

Stertil Koni has supplied a set of wireless mobile column lifts, as well as a selection of high lift and regular axle stands, to Reilly Concrete Pumping Limited. This enables the company to carry out vehicle servicing and maintenance on a number of vehicles simultaneously.

With a head office and modern training centre located in St Helens, Merseyside, Reilly Concrete Pumping is one of the leading concrete pumping companies in UK and the largest to be independently owned, supported by a nationwide network of local depots. The company was keen to consider ways in which its vehicle workshop at St Helens could operate more efficiently and decided to investigate a number of options. Extensive research within the industry and exceptionally positive feedback from other companies, convinced Reilly’s to purchase a set of four ST1082FWF mobile column lifts from Stertil Koni.

Stertil Koni Column LiftsThe ST1082FWF mobile column lifts provide maximum access to the underside of raised vehicles to enable work to be carried out at a safe and comfortable height. Each column has its own control box and provides a lifting capacity of 8.2 tonnes. This means that the four columns used within the workshop provide a combined total capacity of 32.8 tonnes to ensure the safe lifting of a wide range of lorries, vans and other vehicles.

Each of the mobile columns is equipped with two long-life deep cycle batteries which, when fully charged, will power the lifts for at least a week, on average, before re-charging is necessary. The batteries can then be charged overnight via a 230v single phase supply. Also, with no cables on the workshop floor, the risk of tripping is removed and, with no power supply necessary, the system can be used inside or outdoors.

Positioning of the wireless columns is flexible: they can be used in any configuration around a vehicle. Also, with no power or communication cables to connect, set-up time is drastically reduced thereby making the system fully operational much more quickly. The lift’s unique synchronisation system ensures a smooth lifting and lowering cycle, even in the event of extremely uneven load distribution of vehicles to be lifted.

Paul Beard, Depot Manager at St Helens, says, “The Stertil Koni lifts and stands have greatly increased our capacity to repair and service a number of vehicles at any one time, creating a more streamlined and cost effective maintenance programme. The ability to boost revenue due to quicker maintenance turnarounds is a great asset to Reilly Concrete Pumping and ensures we can continue to provide an excellent level of service to our customers.”
