Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has purchased a 4 post 5.5 tonne capacity Stertil Koni vehicle lift to assist with the maintenance of its 200-strong fleet. The service chose Stertil's ST 4055 four-post lift, which was specially designed to handle modern long and heavy vehicles.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has 24 fire stations serving the Cheshire, Holton and Warrington communities and has an ongoing programme of service and maintenance to keep its fleet of 200 vehicles in optimum working order. The decision was taken to install a vehicle lift to increase the Service's range of equipment and improve the efficiency of its vehicle workshop. The lift was supplied by CCS of Leigh - one of Stertil Koni's regional distributors.
A major feature of the ST 4055 that particularly appealed to the Fire Service was the combination of the lift's compact build and its impressive lifting capacity. Its special design incorporates columns, cross-beams and tracks thereby ensuring excellent stability. The slim profile of the columns means there is maximum space between them, making access easier for wide vehicles. The ST 4055 also features a low drive-on height of just 160mm. This means that there are no long ramps protruding into the workspace, maximising access and reducing trip hazards. The lifting height of 2030mm makes the lift comfortable to work under and the 630mm-wide tracks are completely flat to provide the utmost access to vehicles.
The ST 4055 lift is equipped with an adjustable descent speed as standard, making the removal of an engine or gearbox safer and easier. It can also be used in combination with a jacking beam.
"The new lift has been a welcome addition to our workshop, improving access to vehicles and offering health and safety benefits too," says Steve Parker of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. "We chose Stertil Koni on recommendation and because the size and price of the equipment was right. Since the installation we've been really pleased with the performance and quality of the lift."
Stertil Koni's lifts are designed for intensive and problem-free use and its four-column vehicle lifts are renowned for their reliability, long life-span and high resale value. All models are tested with a minimum of 50,000 lifting cycles under a full load during development and parts are kept in stock for 25 years after production.
