22 tonnes is no problem for Stertil wireless lifts

28/04/11 | 2011

Vehicle lifting expert Stertil Koni has supplied its ST1082W mobile column lifts to oil and gas industry supplier Rotech Holdings. Specialising in the development of innovative tools for the energy industry, Rotech has taken delivery of a set of wireless mobile columnlifts to assist with the assembly of its highly specialised equipment.

The four lifts specified by Rotech have been specially fitted with two cross beams to provide extra stability. They will be used for lifting a 22-tonne skid assembly for a tidal turbine generator and control system, providing access to the skid during assembly of its electrical and hydraulic components. Jim Gibb of Rotech is confident that the Stertil units are ideal for this application: "Our requirements were quite different from the usual purchasers of vehicle lifts and Stertil was the only company that could provide exactly what we wanted. They also laid on an invaluable demonstration, which confirmed we were making the right choice."

The ST1082W mobile column liftis unique in being equipped with a wireless control system to provide maximum access beneath the vehicle or equipment being lifted. With no cables on the floor, the risk of tripping is removed, providing valuable health and safety benefits and, because there's no power supply needed, the system can be used inside or outdoors.

The ST1082W's wireless columns can be used in any combination around the equipment being worked on. No power or communication cables means the lift is operational much more quickly. Each column has its own control box and a lifting capacity of 8200kg and, significantly, more columns can be added to increase lifting capacity. The maximum lifting height of 1.85 metres is reached in a swift 89 seconds and every column is equipped with two long-life deep cycle batteries, which will power the fully-loaded column for more than 15 lifting cycles - easily a full day's use.

"This order confirms the versatility of our wireless lifts," says Tony Edge of Stertil Koni. "Rotech's use for the lifts is quite different from many of our customers, but the fact that we were able to meet their requirements is testament to the strengths of the ST1082W system."

The ST1082W features Stertil's maintenance-free, synthetic runner wheel system, which is self-lubricating and comes with a lifetime guarantee. Stertil Koni also guarantees to keep parts in stock for at least 25 years after production.
